Astroportrait Adventure and Rare Five Planet Alignment
June 2-3, 2024
Lone Pine, CA

Prepare to be amazed! This unique photo adventure is taking place in Alabama Hills (3.5 hours north of LA) and is part of a new series of astroportraits I'm working on. This magical location is a series of dispersed camping sites on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) property so it's free camping in protected land that has no electricity, reception, bathrooms, or water. The quaint and super cute town of Lone Pine is a 10-minute drive away where we can eat and shower if you want to rent a hotel or Airbnb. I plan on camping out in the hills and have multiple tents and a shelter. This particular location is one of the most famous dark skies to photograph the Milky Way and while we're there a rare, five-planet alignment will grace the night sky!

We're in a great place for creating beautiful portraits (and video if anyone wants to shoot). Alabama Hills has been the location for hundreds of many famous films and music videos including:

  • Tremors

  • Gladiator

  • Star Trek Generations

  • Disney’s Dinosaur

  • G.I. Joe

  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

  • Iron Man

  • Django Unchained

  • Godzilla (2014)

The camp site is accessible by dirt/sand roads but you don't need a 4wd or to do any off roading and we'll be able to have our cars right by where we are camping. There are a ton of super cool rock formations and caves all around to explore.

Here are some scouting photos from my preferred location in Lone Pine, CA. Note: It's rare but conditions can vary in these high elevation locations. If that is the case, I'll chose another epic location.

"Never stop exploring. Inspire and dedicate your Self to experience something new. Step out of your comfort zone and push your limits creatively and the universe will reward you. These series of astroportraits I’ve been posting lately are a culmination of years of adventuring, staring at the stars and wondering how I can capture their beauty and share it with the world."
